End-of-RAMSI Closing Ceremony at Lawson Tama Stadium, Honiara, Solomon Islands on 29 June 2017.
Closing ceremony commenced at 3.15pm after leaders seated with Parade into Lawson Tama.
Official RAMSI Closing Ceremony ran from 5.00 – 7.00pm, and included:
– Opening Prayer
– Speeches:
• Mayor of Honiara City – Hon. Andrew Mua
• Special Coordinator RAMSI – Quinton Devlin
• Chair of PIF – President of FSM, Peter M Christian
• Leader representative (Australia) – Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove
• Keynote address by Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare
– Presentation of Plaques to Leaders
– Presentation of medals (the Cross of Solomon Islands) to RAMSI Special Coordinators
– Traditional performances and choir singing
– Performances by Solomon Islander school children (representation of the journey from conflict to peace), plus sound and light displays
– Firework finale.
