New RAMSI Special Coordinator meets Minister of Police

The new Special Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, Ms Justine Braithwaite paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Chris Laore on 25 November. Ms Braithwaite took the opportunity to update the Minister on the progress of implementation of the RAMSI Participating Police Force Drawdown Strategy 2013 – 2017, signed recently by the RSIPF, RAMSI and the Solomon Islands Government.

Minister Laore congratulated the RAMSI new Special Coordinator, Ms Braithwaite on her appointment and reaffirmed Government’s continuing commitment to implementing the PPF Drawdown Strategy. The Strategy includes among other things an ambitious program of capacity building for the RSIPF and arrangements towards a limited re-introduction of arms to certain units within the force.
