RAMSI is now solely a policing mission, working in partnership with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to build a modern, effective and independent police force that has the confidence and support of the community.
RAMSI has a number of key priority areas of work that are the current focus of the Mission. These include:
- Strengthening the RSIPF through further capacity development work
- Reintroducing firearms into the RSIPF
- Preventing family violence
Prior to the ‘transition’ in mid-2013, RAMSI was a much larger mission. Over the Mission’s life, RAMSI has delivered a number of development programs, provided frontline policing and had a military component. These parts of RAMSI have been integral to the Mission’s success in restoring law and order, rebuilding national institutions, stabilising the economy and improving service delivery. You can read more about these parts of RAMSI below.
