Participating Police Force (PPF)

The PPF has direct involvement with the Law and Justice program area of RAMSI, through its involvement with the capacity building of the Solomon Islands Police Force (SIPF) and the management of the Fire Service and Maritime elements of the SIPF.

The PPF currently has advisors from the fifteen contributing [0] nations [0] stationed in every province within the Solomon Islands and its main role is to build the capacity of the SIPF.

Some of the areas in which the PPF work closely in an advisory role with the SIPF are:

The PPF also has indirect involvement in the reform and development of the Solomon Islands Prison Service by providing advice and assets for the secure transport of high-risk prisoners for court attendances in Honiara.

PPF advisors act as trainers and mentors for the SIPF. They teach new skills and procedures to the SIPF so they can police the Solomon Islands more effectively.

The Participating Police Force is commanded by Denis McDermott from the Australian Federal Police.
