The Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) today congratulated Vanuatu on the occasion of their Independence Day. RAMSI Special Coordinator, Tim George, said Vanuatu had been a strong supporter of RAMSI, providing personnel to the mission since 2003. “Over the last four years Vanuatu has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Solomon Islands and RAMSI by continuously contributing members of its police force,” Mr George said. He said he would particularly like to congratulate Vanuatu’s Contingent Commander, Ronnie Boe and the two other ni-Vanuatu police officers serving in the Participating Police Force, Andrew Nakalu and Messiah Veremaeto. The three men make up the fifth contingent that Vanuatu has sent to serve in RAMSI to assist in building the capacity of the Solomon Islands Police Force. Commander Ronnie Boe has said that to have the opportunity to work together in such a mission is exciting for the ni-Vanuatu police officers as there is a chance to share and compare a lot of experiences. “We are happy to be in Solomon Islands under RAMSI working in partnership with the Solomon Islands Police Force. We are learning many new things in policing within the PPF while we mentor our local counterparts,” Mr Boe said. Vanuatu is celebrating 27 years of Independence on Monday 30 July. |
